Sketchup I am already familiar with. A decent autocad program, I say decent because its free. Students can make 3D models of projects. I might as them to design a machine when going over simple machines and have them come up with their own and make a design of it in Sketchup.

Google Earth is also cool for any Geography class. They can see and manipulate the workd like a globe. They can zoom in on places of interest. They can make their own mock vacation by finding pictures in some of the mashup sites like flickrmaps.
